After a successful 30-year career in market data and contract management, Nigel followed his passion and moved into music full-time in 2010. He now runs his own private piano practice, Nigel Chapman Music, teaching piano and music theory online to around 75 students every week.

Between 2012 and 2014 he gained a Music Diploma, studying modules in Understanding Music, Composition and Performance, which deepened both his practical skills and his academic understanding of music.

Nigel is currently a visiting peripatetic piano teacher at St. Cedd's School, Chelmsford, providing individual piano tuition. He is also engaged as a classroom music teacher at St. Anne's School, Chelmsford, where he delivers weekly music curriculum lessons.

Nigel has also provided music curriculum teaching for Key Stage I & II, as well as piano lessons, at a range of schools including: Baddow Hall Infant and Juniors (Chelmsford), St Michael's (Galleywood), William Martin Juniors (Harlow), Eversley Primary (Bowers Gifford, Pitsea), Felsted Primary School (Bannister Green, Felsted), St. Helen's Academy (Brentwood) on a two-year contract, and St. Anne's School (Chelmsford).

Nigel played for a Brentwood drama group, the Homestead Players, for 8 years, supporting both rehearsals and shows. He also played piano every week for 10 years at New Hall Chapel (Catholic Church), gaining extensive experience as an accompanist and church musician.

Nigel's aim is to make every lesson enjoyable, inspiring and rewarding. He brings a patient, enthusiastic and sympathetic approach to teaching students of all ages and levels. Students are encouraged to progress at their own pace, building confidence and nurturing a life-long love of piano playing and music in general.
